Welcome to the DSP blog

My goal is to create a space for the enjoyment of DSP enthusiasts and for the dissemination of DSP-related news, ideas and technologies. I’d like this blog to help building a connected, vibrant and collaborative DSP community across the ranks of academia and industry. Because DSP technology has become pervasive and ubiquitous, keeping up-to-date will all the developments in this area is a daunting task, so please contact me with all kinds of comments, tips, information and suggestions. When I first started thinking about this blog, almost three years ago, I searched the web to see what other DSP-related blogs I could find. I was surprised to realized that there wasn’t much. One of the sites that interested me was DSPRelated.com. At that time, the blog section had just a link leading into an empty page. For a while I kept checking to see if there was any new blog but nothing happened and I eventually stop checking. Yesterday, I was happy to receive an email from Stephane Boucher, the publisher of DSPRelated.com, letting me know about the blogs there. So I went to check them out and I discovered that they are hosting 14 blogs! They are all worth checking.

It’s interesting that in my last post I kind of complained of the few blogs about DSP. Well, I was brought to the attention of a nice ore year blog about DSP applied to communications. The name of the blog is “DSP log” and it lives at http://www.dsplog.com/. The main goal of this blog is to explain concepts in digital communications and DSP at the level of a text book. Manyexplanations are illustrated with octave scripts. Some of the recent topics where Frequency offset estimation using 802.11a short preamble, Peak to Average Power Ratio for OFDM and Cyclic prefix in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing.

It is unfortunate that there are so few blogs about DSP so it is worth noting the ones out there. I was recently brought to the attention of the blog at http://dsignalp.blogspot.com/.
